Local Election Results:Incumbents mostly out, good judges in

April 7, 2010

It was a rough night for incumbents tonight across the Wisconsin area. (Randy Melchert covers more different races here)

Waukesha Mayor Larry Nelson was defeated by Jeff Scrima.

Cudahy Mayor Ryan McCue was defeated by Tony Day.  Brookfield Ald. Steven Ponto defeated Mayor Jeff Speaker and Oconomowoc’s mayor Maury Sullivan was defeated by Jim Daley. In Jefferson, Mayor Gary Myers was ousted by Dale Oppermann.

Election workers in Pewaukee ran out of paper ballots as voter turnout far exceeded the expected 30 to 35 percent participation.

A $24 million dollar school referendum and a Mayoral race brought voters to the polls. Mayor Scott Klein defended his title against H. Roger Hathaway.

The AP has reported that Judge Paul Reilly is now on the District II court of appeals as well:

In the District II Court of Appeals race, Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Paul Reilly defeated Waukesha Court Judge Linda Van De Water, The Associated Press said late Tuesday.
