40 things that Were Popular at the beginning of the decade that aren’t popular anymore (via Buzzfeed)

December 8, 2009

Buzz Feed came up with a great post of 40 things that Were Popular at the beginning of the decade that aren’t popular anymore. If you’re feeling nostaligic for 2002 you may wish some of these things were still popular (I personally miss AIM sub profiles and LFO), however there are a lot of things from High School on this list that I don’t miss and hope stay dead as we head into the next decade.

I thought I’d share those 40 things here but also tell you that I am coming up with a list of things that are popular now that won’t be popular at the end of the next decade and 40 things that are popular now that will stay popular.

Here is Buzzfeed’s list:

1. Anthrax

2. Deadjournal

3. AIM Subprofiles

4. Kazaa

5. Jason Biggs

6. Ja Rule

7. Bandanas

8. Darrin’s Dance Grooves

11. Trucker Hats

12. Frosted Tips

13. Hanging a flag outside your house

14. Boy Bands

15. Old Navy Performance Fleece

16. Fred Durst

17. Pepsi Twist

18. Rubber Bracelets

19. Advertising CDs on TV

20. Volkswagen Beetles

21. Nelly

22. Dogpile, Alta Vista…

23. Bling Bling

25. Chat Rooms

27. Ties

28. Metrosexuals

29. Being Closeted

30. Lindsay Lohan’s Acting Career

31. Trading Spaces

34. Tom Green

35. Showing your roots

35. State Shirts

I’m feeling nostalgic so I am gonna listen to some LFO and frost my tips, pop on an Old Navy Performance fleece, grab my walkmen with a CD I just burned from Kazaa and head out to see the Jason Biggs new movie… While I’m there I think about the top things that are popular now but won’t be at the end of the decade and/or things that are popular now that will stay popular at the end of the decade.
